I don’t have a clue how i would begin a career in wedding planning though!
Is there any existing wedding planners out there that could share their experiences of becoming a wedding planner and maybe tell me a bit about the job?
If anybody has any advice about how i could become a wedding planner i would be extremely grateful
Thank You.

In most instances for anyone that want to get into a career of event planning, you need to find a mentor. Find an existing wedding planner out there who’s company is small but larger enough where she can bring you in on some of the work load and pay you. It would most likely be part time at first. You will be “Junior” coordinator or assistant, but you should be able to grasp how to organize the weddings after a year or so.

Read up on it and intern at a company…
If your finances allow you, you can always go for courses offering events planning.
Hope this helps and good luck!

I had a dream of being a wedding planner also.
However, I put that dream on hold due to the economy…
Not many people have money to spend on big, fancy weddings these days, meaning you don’t find work…meaning you HAVE NO MONEY.
Sure, it’s a very rewarding job, if you can handle the stress. You’ll age like mad, and that’s a promise. Most likely always be on edge and very tense because of the stress, but if you can handle that, you’ll be okay.
To start, you need to become licensed, and/or get a certificate/degree. Many places won’t hire you unless you have a degree/certificate from an accredited institute. Or, if you plan on opening your own business, you will first need a portfolio. Which means that you either need to plan some weddings while earning the degree, or get experience working for someone else before you open your own company.
If there isn’t a local institute, there are many online courses that you can take. Look it up on google and decide what is best for you, but be sure that it is an ACCREDITED institute.

Try to get a job with a caterer, and be willing to diversify. Planning Birthday events, anniversary parties. baby showers, etc. is all a part of the biz.Don’t just focus on being a wedding planner, but “event planner”, and you’ll have the time of you’re life. Good luck!

This is a very good career . What you can do is look for some wedding planners and get their email addresses.. Just to simply talk to them one on one about how they pursued their career . They could share a lot of things with you . you could also look into some classes or try to do a friend’s wedding yourself.

Hi!! I am a wedding planner. I started this when I planned my own wedding and did everything myself. I sat and read and studied for days. I then went out and had to get alot of vendors that would help me with my business. The best advice I can give you is that you might want to take the Bridal Consultant course. This will teach you alot and help you too.

At first glance, being a wedding planning may look glamorous, but it certainly has its unglamorous side. As long as you are organized, detail oriented, and can deal with difficult people, you have what it takes.
Of course it takes years to become a reputable planner in your area. My suggestion is to do your research about owning a small business. You’d be surprised how much costs are involved with just getting something remotely started. Then reach out to planners in your local area to see how they got started. You can also check out the Association of Bridal Consultants and other accredited associations who will help you get started.
I love being a wedding planner. Being a part of someones special day is a very intimate feeling, and not one that very many people get to experience. That being said, it is HARD WORK. But, if you love it, it won’t seem that way.
Good luck in your future!

Have you ever in your life attended a marriage ceremony and have felt sorry for the groom simply because he selected the most significant loser buddy to be the best man. It happened to me, we travelled a very chic wedding ceremony and the Best Man’s speech was so bad that it was scary that this dude was the groom’s best friend. After they located the best man, he got up to the microphone and presented this speech: “This couple, Bill and Monica are great and I hope their life is filled with fulfillment and all those things that make a marriage great.” This is what you get when you don’t plan a speech. When I got married couple of years later I didn’t want my best man to be the subject of chat for a long time so I sent him this package http://www.bestmanspeech.largestnetwork.com on how to write a best man speech. It relieved the worry and his speech was beautiful, hilarious and poignant.

Of course, I will mention your website name or URL (not all articles directories allows URL’s , so I can’t 100% promise that you will get a direct backlink to your website).

You do not need some fancy scientific machine to test most of this stuff, should you claim to have ESP but then can’t perform any better than simple guessing would then you definitely don’t have ESP. Should you claim to predict things but can’t predict something specific it shows that you can’t do it. Should you claim to have an out of body experience but can’t say what’s heading on in the places that you claim to travel to then it is pretty obvious which you are just having a dream. None of this is rocket science.
